About me

I am a self-motivated and highly focused professional with 10+ years of experience in the industry, where I have developed my creative & critical thinking and set of technical skills. My strong interest in interior space and people has led me to pursue a career in interior architecture and I am passionate about human-centred design. My interpretation of space often starts from understanding the users. A truly meaningful and thoughtful space can only be determined by the inhabitants who are there and experiencing it through their eyes, ears, nose, touch, and taste. Their evoked memories and emotions then create deep and distinctive connections with their surroundings. I believe the most critical role of a designer is not satisfying aesthetic ideals or providing a lasting functional space; this is not to say they are not important; it instead focuses on creating emotional and profound connections between people and what’s around them. My ultimate goal is to be a facilitator of spatial experiences that tell a story of inhabitants with intangible qualities, the poetry of the ordinary yet extraordinary life of real people. I also think that the best design outcome always comes from collaboration with others involved, whether clients or team members and genuine relationships built upon trust, respect and dedication. That is, for me, where the joy of design can be found.

I was born and raised in Japan and currently live in Sydney, but I would like to think of myself as a resident of the world. I am willing to take on any and all future opportunities that await me, wherever it might be, where I can continue to grow and learn and explore what life offers us.
